The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is undoubtedly one of the best videogames ever produced. It is the third in the Witcher series, and it is by far the largest and best realized world not only in that series, but in fantasy RPG videogames in general. The world is massive and open, and the actions that the main character, Geralt of Rivia, takes make an actual impact on the world around him.
Actually, to say the game world is massive is a colossal understatement. It is actually 35 times larger than Witcher 2. There are several regions in the game (with more added with the expansions). Some of the areas to explore include Novigrad, Velen, and the Skellige Islands.
There is never a shortage of things to see and do in this game. With all of the exploration, as well as side quests, not to mention the main storyline, this game can take many people who want to experience as much as possible well over 100 hours to complete. In addition to exploring, combat, and the story, you can enjoy learning the card game Gwent in Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition.
The graphics are beautiful, and the combat system is very fluid and easy to understand. Since the release, the developers have gone through the inventory system, as well as a number of other systems, to streamline things and make the basics of the game even more enjoyable.
The Story
Geralt, often called the White Wolf, is a witcher of the Wolf School, an unparalleled monster hunter. He travels the countryside looking for people willing to pay him in order to rid their city, town, or hovel of some type of monstrosity. Now, he’s looking for a young woman that he raised as a daughter and trained in the art of monster slaying. He name is Ciri, and the monstrous members of the Wild Hunt are after this enigmatic woman. Follow Geralt and his companions on a quest that takes the hunter from one end of the world to the other as he seeks Ciri.
There are numerous side quests, both large and small, that Geralt can undertake as well. These are not only fun and interesting, but they also serve to help Geralt level up so he can deal with some of the difficult monsters the game throws at you.
Some of the monsters and creatures you will find and face in the game include undead beasts, wolves, werewolves, gargoyles, ghouls, wraiths, ghosts, golems, bears, harpies, giants, trolls, vampires, and more. That just scratches the surface of all of the creatures in the game.
Many of the creatures are outright evil, but that’s not the case with all of them. If there is an option for dialogue, you might want to take it just to hear their side of the story.
A Massive Game Gets Even Bigger
Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition comes with the two expansions for the game. They are called Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. In all, the addition of the two expansions included with the Complete Edition will add another 30 to 40 hours of gameplay at least. These expansions offer more gameplay than you will find with many of the AAA games that come to market today.
Now, let’s get a little taste as to what each of these two expansions will bring to the game.
Hearts of Stone provides you with all new challenges. In this storyline, you will find a number of new characters and new monsters, as well as some new Gwent cards. There is even a new gameplay mechanic added to this expansion. It is called Runewords, and they can change the in-game mechanics. Keep in mind that the quests for this expansion are for those who are level 30 or higher.
In this expansion, Geralt will attempt to defeat an immortal bandit captain. You can even recruit your own group of thieves, meet ghosts, and much more.
The Blood and Wine expansion was the final add on for the game, and it is included with the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition. As before, this expansion has additional characters, as well as monsters. There are new weapons, new armor, and new cards for Gwent. The quests found in this expansion are for characters who are at least level 34.
This expansion adds a brand new area for Geralt to explore. It is called Toussaint, and it is a beautiful land. The expansion has between 20 and 30 more hours of gameplay. There is a new main quest, as well as new side quests. You can even spend some time in your own vineyard.
Of course, since this is Geralt we’re talking about, things don’t stay peaceful. There is a monster terrorizing the land, and it is up to Geralt to learn what this creature is and to stop it. The expansion features plenty of secrets, new and interesting places to visit, a tournament of knights, and more. In addition, there is a new game mechanic that will allow you to dye the witcher armor different colors. It seems like a simple enough mechanic, but it is one that fans have been clamoring for since release.
Get the Complete Edition
The game is available on PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. For those who love fantasy RPGs, and who have yet to play the game, you can’t go wrong with Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition. This is the definitive collection that includes not only the full game, but the expansions as well.
There is a lot to love with this game, and that’s why it has won more than 800 awards since it has been available. There are few, if any, other fantasy action RPGs that can compare with the grand scope that you will find here. It’s truly one of the most stunning games ever made.
